Kitchen diner – the builders week 3…

We have a floor!

The work pace has been a bit slower this week, but we do have a floor!

It was oh so tempting to press a hand or foot in the smooth layer of screed. We managed to resist the temptation and in 3 days it was ready to walk on.

We will have to wait about two months before it will be ready for us to lay our chosen floor finish. But seeing as we haven’t actually chosen our floor finish, two months should be fine!

    1. Hi Mags.

It was dry enough to walk on after about three days, but it takes a lot longer for all of the moisture to dry out completely.

If you don’t allow all the moisture to dry out it can cause your floor finish to warp or crack. A general rule of thumb for a new concrete floor is one month per inch, or one day per one millimetre drying time.

I hope you find this helpful.

  1. Woohoo how exciting! And to be honest it took us about 2 months to pick a floor that we liked anyway so at least you can spend the time doing your research and window shopping whilst you’re waiting for the floor to dry. Hooray! x
